Computer Just Shuts Off

Hello i'll be in the middle of doing something and then all of a sudden my computer will just shut off without warning? Is there a over heating problem with my case fans or maybe the cpu is getting to warm? I dont overclock so everything is just stock run. Please if anyone has suggestions that would be great! Thanks!

Does it shut down, or restart...It could be an overhwating problem...my computer was overheating and kept restarting (fixed now)
It could be virus/spywayre though i doubt it.....
Try running a virus scanner (do a free scan online if u havent got 1) and download and run ad-aware.

Does the computer case feel really hot?

Try opening it up and start it up.... does the fan on the chip work...? Are you hearing a buzzing from the power-supply fan..or is it louder than usual?


You may be looking at a power-supply on its way out. Hold old is the system?

Few Years

The System is a few years old but i have updated frequently, i didn't know if it was a heat issue, and i had thought that maybe my power supply was going out...Thanks
