Speaker output is horrible

I just bought http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00232962 that from an older HP with many upgrades (was 1000ghz pentium 3 128ram voodoo3 2000 PCI)

i have polkaudio speakers that came from my mothers older HP that she never uses anymore, and i can barely hear any sound coming out of these speakers...reccomendations?

Buy a creative labs sound card.

Make sure your motherboard isn't set to lineout, if you have that option(some have a jumper) or that your plugging into the amp out and not the line out if you have the 2 plugs.

i was thinking of buying new speakers, but i would be worried that the speakers would not fix the problem, and the other one...i have no clue what you just said

sounds like your audio output isn't high enough to drive your speakers amplifier. Double click on the volume control and raise the output where it says wav. Or you might have poor drivers for your audio-try upgrading. Or you need to go to audio\system and change your output to the wav system instead of directx.
