Server.

Im running Linux right now. But its managed and in the near future I am going to go dedicated hosting. Server 2003 is more expensive but I just wonder if its alot easier and faster?

its easier and faster if configured properly. linux can be too. but, however mainatince costs are higher than windows.

are there any benefits of using win 2003 rather than xp pro for a small file server around the house, maybe serve up some pages with IIS?

Probably not. 2003 has alot more tools to play around with but XP can do the job too.

I went with 2K3 because of the ability to use the remote desktop tool and the provider had better bandwidth options for 2K3.
I have just found it easier in my experience but I am hoping to move to linux sometime.

Also.. What about actualy using a dns server on the server? Does it have an inbuilt one and i can make nameservers etc?
