Cant get to windows please help

I have two memory sticks in there. I took both of them out and firmly pushed them back in. Should I take out one and then try to boot it with just the other in, hand vise versa?

I'll try it. But how can I completely reinstall Windows? I put the stupid cd in and nothing happens.

the cd rom sounds like it dont support bootable setup cds.
you can make floppys to do it instead. if you are stepping up to xp make sure the computer meets all of the xp requirements first or its going to be a waste of time trying.

first here is a registry repair utility from microsoft for windows 2000

if that isnt working for you hold down the f8 key before windows starts to load. this will show you a list of choices
I cant remember what they all are but Im sure there is one for checking the the disk for errors and other sorts of things.
if all else fails and you want to install windows xp make sure your computer meets the xp requirements first. then you can download the bootable setup floppys here

Yeah I tired both of those things. When I put the CD in no on screen pompts come up. Im gonna try the cd on my computer first though, maybe there is something wrong with the copy my friend gave me.

is the setup cd a copy or the real deal?
if its a copy (burned) older cdroms cant read them. trust me I've been down that road.
after you start your computer up with the setup disk in the cdrom you should see a message asking you to press any key to boot from cd.(of course this is assuming your cd rom is newer and supports bootable disk). Look for it. its very brief. it only shows up for 2-3 seconds and then windows will start to load if you dont press a key on the keyboard.
If you cant even get the foppies to work (I cant belive they dont) then I definatly am stumped.
