i just built a new comp and everything is running fine (xp pro)

just when i go to shut it down, it goes to the light blue screen, it logs off, it saves setting, but when it goes to "windows is shutting down" it just stays there and doesnt turn off

this happened to my old computer too, dunno whats wrong, maybe a bios setting?

i just manually shut off, as the setting are saved but i would like for it to shut off autmatically

There is a setting in Windows to correct this,I forgot but will work on it.
Please folks, stop blameing the bios for everything.
It all depends though who put your pc together.
Who messed with it.
Who screwed things up on the bios.
I gotta go now and :catch me a perro on the bio(s)

Hi to Cajun Country.

Does your computer have a atx power supply?
If not with a standard style power supply you must manually hit the power button.

F1 or help says

Quote Window help on the taskbar or F1.
==========
Do not turn off your computer until a message appears telling you that it is safe to do so.
Some computers turn off automatically.
:D
I guess some don't.
