I have replaced the lithium CR2032 battery. The only problem is that the original one was a fixed unit (soldered to the battery) and the replacement was just the battery.
Do you think somewhere like Maplins would sell the whole unit?

IBM Thinkpad T21
PIII
800MHz

on most modern motherboard the bettery is no longer soldered to the mainboard it's in a nice plastic holder,
The batteries should last for a good ten years or so, and even then don't seem to be too essential my bettery is flat and has been flat for a year but I just don't bother getting round to changing it.
