dvd rom drive only reading cd roms

i have a samsung sd-612 dvd-rom drive. I have had it in my computer a long time already. For some reason it can only read cds not dvds. I tried watching a dvd and it wouldnt even say that there was a dvd in the drive.

how old is it .cause it might be time to upgrade.

just buy a new one and that sort it all out.

The laster might need re-aligning if it is old.
Best bet is to look for a new one.

Yeah; some will last some won't. They're only Optical after all. Its probably just not strong enough anymore to read the DVDs.
