I've tried to change the boot screen in windows xp pro edition
by changing the ntoskrnl file from the system32 folder under safe
mode but then when i reboot my pc just never starts.

Wat can the prob be?

Plz help.

Just to remind u that im only interested in changing the boot screen
manually 'n im not interested in using any softwares.
I kno there r some available to change those settings but
I prefer doin them manually.

Also I would b glad to chat with u directly.

What do you mean change the boot screen. And dont go messin bout with files eh :p

Lol - you don't want to go changing the Boot Screen Files without a Program. Its hardly safe with a Program; then at least you can roll it back anytime you need to.

I recommend getting the appropriate files.

Yeh choice is up to you. Good luck further breaking your pc, lol.

That really isn't a smart idea lol.

What is it you are trying to do specifically? We might be able to help you out. I say the only way to fix your problem is reinstall windows, you messed with the file the system relies on to boot, you can't do much to fix it other than a reinstall.

if you had the original file you could try putting it back.
as far as I know it is perfectly safe to change the boot screens. (It was much easier in windows 95/98 than I think it is in windows XP) though in either case it's just replacing a file.
I think you need to 'specialist' programs to ensure the correct format, (the scrolling bar) colours are defined in that file.
I don't see how you could do this without at least one specialist program.

A good program for it is StyleXP but you have to pay for that after the trial is up.

I use it and it is a good program, easy to change boot screens, logon screens e.t.c :p

Hey Sickness we are only allowed 5 lines in our sigs!!

I'd recommend only listing important system info, like mine :D because everyone knows I'm perfect. Lol

LOL! Yeah; you've got more than I had.

Oh, I miss my nice Sig! :D Where will the Chicken Song be now when somebody needs help?
