In my great war; it is between Microsoft, Intel and nVidia and Macintosh, AMD and ATi. Doesn't fit any reasonable system - as the PowerMac uses a Dual-Dual-DVI 6800 and a Mac Processor; but Microsoft uses Intel and nVidia in the XBox so it works in theory.
I think your right. If you ask a network engineer which machines would you put in a large network. Knowing that reliability is a Major factor.
(Networks = problem x No. of machines). then ALL will go for intel on good motherboards, No SIS & Via stuff.
As with the ATI's as i have mentioned many times, they are not as stable as NVidia. And that's why as you pointed out the XBox uses the two most reliable components.
