need help connecting to internet

hey everybody, im a newb at computers and need help on connecting a computer to internet thats never been connected b4, plz help

First make sure your pc has a modem, do you want the slow 56 k or Broadband?

oh i already have a broadband connection that works w/ my laptop but now im just trying to get me ma's computer to hook up to it through the same connection

You'll need a Broadband Router. That'll give you more than one connection to Broadband which you can then connect to both computers as you did with the Laptop.

Most likelly the broadband modem has a router built in. Unless its like my wireless High Speed connection, where no modem is needed.

Just get some cat 5 cable off of new egg at hook that into you moms computer.

Some of these broadband modems also have 802.11 g or b wireless built right in.

If it does have wireless you can get a wireless card or you Mothers computer (if it doesnt already have one).

You'll have to check with you ISP for the specs on your modem.
