installation problems

hello everyone,

i think i have a big problem, what it is. When i come to install any type of software i keep getting this ERROR 1304: ERROR WRITING TO FILE. VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THAT DIRECTORY. when i press retry it keeps happening, but when i press cancel it cancels the set-up.

I have tried restarting the set-up once it has cancelled itself, but i have no luck there to. Again i have restarted the machine as well, but no luck there again.

i would be very grateful if anyone out there can he me with this problem.

Are you on an XP Limited User Account?

you might want to check if you are set as the computer administrator other then that I dont see why it would do that.

try linstalling in safemode, logging on as administrator.
I believe this will work for you , concidering you have windows xp as your OS.

Cheers for all the feedback -

i do not have a limited account on XP, i have all admin access. I have tried it in safemode. But i still get the same error coming up.

This has just started to happen from when i Defragmenter on the system last week. Could this have anything to do with it.

How long has this been happening? How long since you had Windows Installed? Home or Pro?
