big virus problem

I did format the hard drive. I put in the windows disk when it booted up, an selected to format everything, and install windows. I am not exactly sure how to word this, but that's basically what I did. Done it before, works.

So whats the problem then.A format will erase all viruses,so lets go another direction.

no, there is no more problem, I was just explaining what I had tried before I formated and reinstalled.

I imagine the virus had embedded itself into explorer.exe, the main system program. My girlfriend had this type of virus on her computer along with about 700 little virus friends (literally). I think Mcafee can remove this type it seems Norton can't?
