im kinda new to comps and i have a windows 98 gateway in my room and im wondering how i can clear the hdd completely and start over wit everything. thanks

go into dos (located in acesories or go to rumn and type in cmd) the in dos type in "del tree c:/r some thing like at then wach the majik. lol

you can also type in format c:/

Before you do this, create a windows 98 boot disk, www.bootdisk.com

Go to *start* - *Restart in dos mode*, then when you get "C:\" type format or format C:\

your computer should reset, then insert the windows 98 boot disk and "watch the magic"

Boot from a floppy and use FDISK, its the best way to start from scratch.

Personally Format C: in DOS is perfectly good for most people's uses.

You have to make sure you still have your Windows 98 Install Disk before you do it. Then once its formatted; put it in, boot from it and install.
