What's wrong with my 'puter?

Well, I tried the old Benchmark prog, PcMark2002, but It's outdated so I couldn't compare my memory scores. The new free version PcMark2004 doesn't have a ram test so I can't do that either. I don't really have a ram-switching option either. However, I have found that when I de-activated the download manager on firefox it's seems to go quite fast. The reason I stayed with firebird was because of that download manager window, that stalled my computer forever. But now that it's off it should work pretty well. Also I think ad-aware helped quite a lot, as did you guys! Thanks all. If I can try switching ram later I will, but for now I'll just use firefox. :)

Thanks for all the laughs.
When will you folks just use your PC and stop trying to fix or stop what didn't need fixing untill you made it need fixing.

I have no Firewall,no Auto virus protection.
Just a good way to deal with this and maintain my PC.
:D

if you have no fire wall and no anti virus then you are probably server porn unknowlingly, soon the police will come knocking at your door and sieze all the dirty images that you are hosting...

There is an add at the top of this page, it would only take a change of heart of the add suppliers and malware could be entering your PC from this site, throught no fault of yours or the website creators.

Not having any protection is just plain stupidity.
On a more serious level you have to be aware, and guard against spyware, autodownloaders and trojans etc... the sad truth is there are a lot of people that really are out to get you, and many of these tools and referring tracking cookies come from linked adverts.

I have protection (My years of learning) Are you insinuateing i am spreading porn or i am a pass through of some kind ?
What the hell is that wisecrack ?
I don't cheat at kazza either.So i don't pay the price either.
 :D ;)

The bit about porn was a joke, you don't know that your computer is not an infected drone, and you could very well be spreading porn.

the fact is that since the advent of broadband there are thousands of drones serving various websites all over the place.

if you don't protect yourself against things there is no telling where you can get them from.

OK, so you have experiance, you perhas don't go to porn sites, but like I said, how do you know the advert at the top of this page doesn't leave areferral tracking cookie? if you have a decent spyware scanner (like spybot that you can set to warn yo uwhen a site is trying to install spyware on your machine, You'll find that there is spyware everywhere.

by not having any kind of protection you are leaving yourself open to attack.

Experiance of using computers means nothing, a spyware componet/virus will not look at you and decide oh my he's too experianced, lets not infect him...

just for the sake of argument, download a free scanner like spybot and a free virus scanner (try AVG from www.grisoft.com) then see how many infections you have.

Haha! Nothing with having no protection. I've never used protection and I've never had a Serious or even Problematic Virus! Not even one noticable.

Paranoia will just make you boring. Optomism Root! OPTOMISM!
