Operaing System not found - error

I have a HP Omnibook 6000 laptop. Pentium 3, 10 GB hard drive.

When I turn it on, I get a clicking sound that seems to be coming from the hard drive. And then an error saying..

"Operating system not found"
Then an image of a lock appears on the screen.

Does anyone know what caused this and how I could fix the problem. Could I need a new hard drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Install an OS.
"Operating system not found" Then it will.

Yeah thats sounds about right . Just pop in a disk for windows 98 or what ever you have.

I cannot install another OS, i TRIED THIS!!

There is a clicking sound coming from the hard drive, when I put in the disk for the OS, NOTHING!!

Sorry but a forum can't teach you every detail of useing a laptop.
Read the manual.
Is this New? Is it very old? Did it ever work ?
What disk is this ? A floppy will click,is this Windows 3 ?
