How are you trying to install it? Are you using the boot disk, or can you boot into the current OS and install from there? Do you have access to a Win2000 cd? If you are trying to do the install from DOS, and it gives you some crap about logical drives and what not, you may have to use a Win2K disc, or possibly a Partition manger type software to force it to remove the logical drive.

Get a DOS or Windows 95 or 98 Boot disk. Windows 2000 and XP may not have this ability, haven't used fdisk on Windows 2000 or XP.

Run FDISK and erase and delete everything on the drive, including ALL of the partitions. I think it is option # 4 or 5 to change to other partitions. It has been awhile before I have done this. That will wipe it back to a unformatted and unpartition drive. Start installing Windows 98 and it partition and format the drive as part of the installation.

I hope that helps.

Sounds about right i don't think there is anything else to add except you can pick win 95 for £5 I just did.
