i cant activate my original copy of windows xp!

I paid like couple of hundred bucks for my copy of windows xp home and after reformatting a couple of times, microsoft tells me that ive already activated when i try to activate it. Can anyone tell me what to do?

Where did you buy this copy of Windows from? I don't generally like to say it but it could be a fake copy .

I got it as an oem copy. And its original im pretty sure.

You should probably bring it back to the store you got it from and say what happened. If that doesn't work then ring up Microsoft - number should be on the box - and tell them what has happened.

Opt to register by phone. Then just call them up and they will do it/.

Yeah - and if the code its not registering - I'm sure Microsoft would be happy to know where you got it from!

I think a lot of OEM CD's are designed to recognize one particular PC, and automatically register as activated
that's how it works on my dad's Dell laptop

I've never heard of that happening before but if you brought the CD it should have been neutralised of that because it would be a Box Pack? Unless it was a bit illicet!

Oh, well - XP Unlicenced Copies aren't too hard to find. I have one myself!
