Hi,
I am trying to find out some information on msn instant messenger. Does my computer keep a log of what has been typed, and how can I view it?
I have a 13 year old daughter that likes to chat with her friends on it. The problem is that there are some 50 people on her contact list and she is very defensive about what goes on. I dont want to keep her off the computer if everything is ok, but how do you know this day and age without spying a little. There are just to many weirdos on the inernet. Any help I could get would be appericiated.

I don't think it does but you can get hold of some programs that will log it. Try a search for these. Good luck and hope your daughter stays safe!

Yeah, you can have it so it keeps a chat log for each individual contact. Just go to her contact list, click tools at the top, then click options. Go the the Messages tab and look at the bottom, there should be sopmething that says Message History, clikc the box next to where it says Automatically keep a history of my conversations.

You can also change where the logs are saved aswell

There are also many ways for parents to child protect.
A talk with my son this week confirmed that his kids will not have the internet in their bedrooms,just a computer someday.

MSN Explorer - £6 a month for a fabulous explorer with parental Controls and the like - that has a thing where you can be e-mailed every single site that your daughter goes on! If you know the sites that she goes on then you can work out the sort of people who she will be added to her contacts without knowing personally! Hope that helps!

There are several "SpyWare" programs that will track every keystroke she makes. I used it during a custody battle where my 13 yr old stepson was being allowed to look at porn. It helpeda great deal in getting him out of that environment. At the time, I used "SpyBuddy" located at "SpyBuddy.com". However, since we networked our PCs, it won't run anymore. So, I'm not sure if that particular one would work for you.
