My friends computer is not working and i have been given the job of fixing even though i know very little about computer, i just use them!! ;)

So i'm looking for help, basically when i turn the machine on i get the following message:

"unknown flash type" disk boot failure

Do you know how to fix it?

If yes please let me know, many thanks

julian.

from the sounds of it your freind has a flash memory card reader.

the error you are getting is because a blank card is in the slot on start up

try taking it out

Hit the hard disk up to top priority in the BIOS boot sequence. That should fix it.

Still need help

thanks for the reply,

but i still cant get it to work:

1) There is no flash card reader
2) There is no floppy in the A drive
3) "Hit the hard disk up to top priority in the BIOS boot sequence. That should fix it." how do i do that? I really am not very good with computers, i just use them. So if you could give me very simply step by step instructions it would be greatly apprieciated.

many thanks for all your help in advance!!

julian

when you first turn on the computer it should say
"press delete to enter setup" or something similar

once you are in setup look for boot options enter this and make sure the hard disk is the first boot device.
