I have heard the the Government (of the U.S.A.) uses UNIX so that their OS is more stable and secure?
Is this true?

It actually depends on the system and its purpose. Windows NT is the popular choice for most confidential networks. Then of course their are some proprietary systems with a Unix kernel. I would have to agree that Unix is more secure though.

Probably true ... kinda like Microsoft being sat their saying that Linux is shite, yet they use Red Hat for their servers and for microsoft.com.

Microsoft don't say that Linux are shite - not officially at least. Yeah - but how many of those Servers running Red Hat are being slowly cordened off and changed for Windows Server 2003 versions? It will not take long and then the table will be set for all out Server War.

Yeah I think they are using UNIX because when you look on symantec.com 90% of the viruses/trojans/etc. don't affect UNIX or LINUX

Ah - see - shows they're working on getting their brilliant new Windows Servers working! Maybe on the next release of Windows Server another hald of the unknown servers will be changed for new Windows Servers!

UNIX / Linux might be the most resistant to trojans and other viruses because they are aimed more specifically at the OS with the largest user base. (that is windows with some 90%+ (with a computer) of the world using it.

Conversly, with some 60% of the world using linux/apache as a web server that also happens to be the most hacked webserver combination.
