transfer 8mm to computer hdd

I want to transfer my hi8 recordings to my hardrive so I can burn them to cd. I only have a standard a/v inputs on my sony camcorder. I really don't know what I need or where to start. Can anyone help me please!

You'd need a special connection set which you may be able to get from a Camcorder Shop. I wouldn't know what it would be called but I'd imagine it would be USB based. I don't think there is a cheaper way - other than perhaps buying a WinTV, plugging your Video Player into it with S-Video Out and recording the Video onto the Computer while Playing it on the Recorder. But that may not work and you'd need a pretty new Video Player.
