Seriously though, it does have it's uses... but I think the Internet will only fulfill it's full potential when/if it gets integrated fully with the likes of television, music, libraries of information, gaming, communication etc, in other words, removing the boundaries that limit it's growth, creating one portal that you can do everything you want to!
Well that's my crazy idea for the future of the net anyway. I'm sure others will have differing opinions.

It could just be me - but is that not the internet now! The Television has the internet; MSN even sells Televisions which will work on the Internet - Windows Media Centre Edition! That is a computer Television!
Music? Is Music not fully intergrated into the Internet already? MSN Music! Kazaa! Shareaza! Infact - Music is so intergrated into the Internet that Music hates it and wants to slow it down!
MSDN is a Library of information! they're working on the National Library of Britain's Website; with Moving Pages of Ancient Books. Problem being that it takes so long for so many books to be digitised.
Gaming - ever bloody game has a Multiplayer version! I only use Age of Mythology now because of Multiplayer.
MSN Messenger! Hotmail, POP3, MSN! Hell, even Yahoo, and i-chat and to a lesser extent AIM have participated in this! Everybody who has the internet has an e-mail address; and most of them use it on a regular basis! You cannot possibly say that the Internet is not fully-intergrated with Communication! It is BASED on cmmunication! We are only talking here because of the huge communication of the Internet. The Internet IS Communication!
The one portal that you can do everything you want in is MSN! Literally everything - I kid you not. It must be also obvious by now that there is no limit to the size of the internet!

Can you watch Premiership football on MSN? No. There are issues with broadcast rights and other tecnicalities that need to be resolved for it to be an fully integrated services, IMHO anyway. To put it another way, when all you have to do is sit in front of one screen to be able to do everything you want to is full integration.
I think 'they' need to decide if television is coming to the Internet, or if the Internet is coming to television.
