I know I'm behind the times but my old bp6 board finally fried and I found a board I thought was pentiumlll. Now in bios it says pentiumll board but windows recognizes it as pentiumlll. Why do you think this is?

sorry,i have no idea about these sort of subjects, but, could it have been upgraded?if it is possible, may be because the bios recognises its original grade, but windows,i dont think, cant work out as much as bios can,so the windows is looking at it for its face value, and just seeing pentium3.
am i making any sense at all?

The P2 and P3 have different pinouts so the board will be either P2 or P3. Have a look on the CPU itslef and it should say. Windows is probably using the information it extracted upon install and not the current. Are you sure?

yes -it is curious- I will take another look at the board itself and see if it does say something on it
