I personally tend to side with sony, because they throw all these specs at you, even if they are irrelevent, but whatever. You opinions below, but do not make any unsupported claims like the xbox360 web site and Major(doofus).

I am bias as I lean toward the PS3, but the 360 clearly wins when it comes down to number crunching:

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/617/617951p1.html

Check out the 360 here. Good review (video media) on the actual retailed system:

http://media.xbox360.ign.com/articles/666/666900/vids_1.html

The major hype right now is of course, the XBox 360 simply because they are out now. Give it another 4-6 months, the PS3 will come out and the hype will be on them.

ya i've seen those graphs before. I have heard they are inaccurate from many computer experts. Althoughm its just specualtion. Also all the specs for Ps3 are projected, not set in stone. Ign is a biased site for xbox360, wheras gamespot is biased for ps3.
-the only graph i Know to be false is the memory bandwidth, because the 10mb of embedded ram's bandwidth cannot be simply added on to the other bandwidths. It also is inaccurate because the bandwisth of the embedded ram is as someone described to me as a "potential" speed that teh path allows for, but the hardware will not allow for it to go that fast. Making it just propaganda. I would also sepcualte that genral processing power is irelevant because we are talking about video game platforms. The only way i have heard this argument to go is to PS3, but the xbox360 wins on its video card (in some areas), online interface, and games.

Hey, Microsoft is the one to have started that trend with the XBOX! Before the XBOX, nobody touted specs as much as everyone is doing now.

P.S. You should have made the poll a multi-select. I might get a Revolution, too!

YOURE right!!! I remember than ps2 only said it was a dvd player as well, but then xbox came out with all these specs and it was hard to find specs and is still hard to find the specs of the ps2. Xbox u ruined video platforms and turn them into computer stats. But i guess thats what you need to be informed abouta 400 dollar purchase.

i hope nintendo uses bluteooh for their controllers so a ps3 could be modded to use their controllers.(just for fun, it would be stupid for long term purposes)

Main reason im getting XBOX:360. Go to bestbuy and take a compare of game types of each system. XBOX: FPS PS2:RPGs Gamecube:children(for the most part)
the new systems will likely follow trend

Um.... wow. Have you taken a look at a recent games list? It seems not.

GameCube's games aren't so much "children's" games, as much as games that are fun and addictive without the Mature rating. :) Super Monkey Ball owns. :D So does Super Smash Brothers Melee.

I tend to favor the Playstation series. I owned almost every Nintendo system, then saw what the original Playstation could do, that one system seemed to be more user friendly and much more capable in terms of playability and the wide selection of games that are available.

The XBOX to me was just another thing for Microsoft to get money off of because at around that time their piracy rates went way up, and now it's even higher, so go figure an XBOX 360 comes out. Although the machine is vastly capable, I don't think it could ever do what the N64 or PSX did, which was establish the way you played games, for instance the use of an analog and D-Pad, the use of a memory card to store a vast amount of games, the ability to use a CD or a catridge that could hol dmore data and support better graphics.

The Playstation 3 will no doubt be the next console I purchase. It to me seems liek the better deal...

I am gonna go with the revolution just because of the games i got addicted to
such as metroid and the legend of zelda series,
and any game that allows you to bash the crap out of a little yellow mouse
looking thing(melee) is worth getting again, to do it with better resolution

More Revolution specs announced! I must say, it's very...wierd. Instead of going on the high-definition trail like Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo has chosen to go on the standard-definition path with affordability in mind. Just think of the Revolution like this: you take a GameCube, add higher clock speed on the CPU and GPU, then increase the optical storage up a bit, and walla! You've got a Revolution! The RAM is about the same amount as the GameCube and all the processors will pretty much be extensions of the GameCube's processors.

the revolution, crap.

the PS3 is gonna be great, no doubt. the controllers may look cool but i think its gonna be annoying to hold.

xbox 360 has some really nice features, like for lazy people you can turn the system on and off from your wireless controllers. Another great thing is that every game is going to be xbox live capable is brilliant. every1's mad because the launch titles sucked for the 360 but thats only cuz they wanted a christmas launch (very smart) and i think that people should wait and look at the PS3 before they jump up to buy one.

xbox did re-difine gaming, sure nitendo had the memory card, but xbox had the hard drive, xbox had xbox live, which was BRILLIANT. do i even need to mention halo...

I own a gamecube and was very dissapointed (first Nintendo system I got after following Sega for so long, and them failing me too on the newest systems).

So I think I'll try Microsofts Xbox 360 now, purely because of how much of a sucess the Xbox was, and when looking at the games list released on the PS2 and Xbox, the Xbox had more of the games I would have liked to buy.

So yeah, I'll give Microsofts system a go :)
I'll probably get one in the new year once more systems have come in and hopefully buy a pack with Project Gotham Racing 3, and probably Need For Speed Most Wanted :D

...I Need a HD TV though really I know....
