Lian Li is good for the one who is not looking for looks but just performance. I struck a balance when choosing the Raidmax one.

Yeah, Lian Li are REALLY REALLY HIGH QUALITY, and are HEAVY! They are made from 2Gauge Aluminum! That means that they can take a 9mm bullet from 100ft! Tough mother fuc**rs. I need more flashy presentation as well.. I like the Thermaltake Shark alot as well.

The Shark seems to fit my specifications and does seem to be nice... but I already bought what I bought. :)

That last case that looks like a G5 is a total turn off.. the front side with all those little holes and stuff... ughh... some people think Apple G5s have such a clean look and such.. I think their gross. And you know how particular I'm about presentation (sheesh how gay lol).

Yeah, but I like the new Apple G5's. All that stuff in one 1 1/2 to 2 inches, all packed behind a LCD monitor (I think it's 17 or 20 inches...).

athlon64fx

DarkBlade

HE HE HE.. I like that little addin about Apples Gian..

BTW Gian, is that Demon PSU noisy? We were talking about it when you were over in Italy, and you never told me. So, whats the review on it?

PS, nice case. Pretty good wiring! Although, that thing must look like the Brandy bunches house during Christmas when it is lit up! Green + Red Everywhere!! AH, my eyes... I don't like multicolors in my cases, only one color, unless it is UV. I prefer Green on everthing. But Red suits me well, Blue is WAY to mainstream!

January 27th, 2005, 02:01 AM
I like the setup of that case, but I really don't like the look of the handle. But that's just me. As for myself, I have this:

http://plasma.dyndns.org/DSCN1191.JPG

That's a nice little AMD 64 3200 in there :D .

Giancarlo
January 27th, 2005, 02:02 AM
Not noisy. If you have MSN I can put my mic near it.. you'll hear nothing. It is a super quiet case. And if one wants I can try to put my webcam down there (live on MSN). Just ask. It is a very quiet case and the powersupply is extremely quiet even with two fans.

I told you about it in Italy because that's when I bought it. I didn't have access to my computer. I have all the wires tied up with standard plastic ties. My case has many colors: green, orange, red, and blue. I like colors (hah rainbow is beautiful.. hah.. hahahah). Do you see the decal? I plan to put two more. And that's it. It'll seem like I'm overdoing it beyond that.

I'll set my camera to light sensitive..

Edit: SHEESH, edit that photo down.. Hah.

That isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Well, that looks pretty cool. Maybe when I get my PC built, mine will look good. Probably going UV and green lighting on this one. I am fond of single colors like I said, but nevertheless, VERY NICE setup!

Also, any complaints about the Demon PSU? If not, I will probably get the same on you have, except with Green Fans!! Does it crackle or hiss when you start it up or shut it down? Anything? If it is really that good, I will get a Shark tower (black) and that PSU for sure!

Giancarlo
January 27th, 2005, 02:19 AM
The green lighting I have is called a liquid neon green cathode. It is a very unique light and is something the camera could not catch. No complaints about the Demon PSU. It does not crackle or anything. It is a perfectly fine 580 watt power supply.

Giancarlo
January 27th, 2005, 02:22 AM

Oh lets see, it ruined almost all my electronic goodies, and insurance is only covering half of it. I almost got hypothermia because I had to manually prime the flood gate controls under water at that point... Could not be much worse... over 450,000 dollars in loss is bad... VERY BAD! I hate water now... FOREVER!!!

Giancarlo
January 27th, 2005, 07:05 PM
19" CRTs are far too large. 17" CRTs are more suitable. Besides in games, if you set the resolution to high the frame rate slows.

DarkBlade
January 27th, 2005, 07:08 PM
Well, the frame rates only slow down if you have a GPU that isn't up to par. Any of the new GPUs play all the newest games at 1600x1200 just fine. My WindowsXP 2D mode is set at 1280x1024 mode. I love it, and wish I could push 1600x1200 on this PC... Sadly, I cannot!

Giancarlo
January 27th, 2005, 07:11 PM
It doesn't matter if the GPU is up to par or not. You will still get better frame rates at lower resolutions. I usually have my resolution set to 1152X864. My Nvidia 5900 is up to par. I'm just not a spoiled rich person so I can't buy the newest ones.

Speedydowt

Indiana, near Indianapolis, but really Geist area (on a lake....) I have built for myself 12 PCs over the last few years. For my family, I have no idea (alot..) So, many I suppose. It is getting boring at this point... I only like Modding anymore.. Building is just a chore now.. MODDING is where it is at!!

Giancarlo

DarkBlade

Giancarlo

Speedydowt
January 27th, 2005, 07:32 PM
big moniters are good man, ok so u have a 17inch screen at 1280x1184 or whateva and u have doom 3 running you get say 56fps on 1280x1184 or whateva then u have 50fps on 1600x1200 on a 22inch screen, i guess what i am trying to say is that theres not much differnce in frame rate of a slight increase in res and you dont get the jaggy crap around the lines :P also i suppose if your worried about refrsh rated if you have a bigger screen eg 19 inch then u can a lower res but still more space on the desktop and have a higher refresh rate !
so i gues having a bigger screen kinda does help :P

big moniters are good man, ok so u have a 17inch screen at 1280x1184 or whateva and u have doom 3 running you get say 56fps on 1280x1184 or whateva then u have 50fps on 1600x1200 on a 22inch screen, i guess what i am trying to say is that theres not much differnce in frame rate of a slight increase in res and you dont get the jaggy crap around the lines :P also i suppose if your worried about refrsh rated if you have a bigger screen eg 19 inch then u can a lower res but still more space on the desktop and have a higher refresh rate !
so i gues having a bigger screen kinda does help :P

kind regards

Back that up. My refresh rate is great.. I'm running at 1152X864.

KDS, IMHO is the best monitor company.

Well case wiring... it doesn't matter if you are good or whatever. You have to get it right. If it is not right it won't work heh. :) As far as organization, that's a different story.. I'm good at that... just use plastic ties to organize wires.. this improves air flow.

Speedydowt
January 27th, 2005, 07:39 PM
ahh right so you dont use any special techniques? like putting all the wires behind the mobtherbaord tray? do you recommend rounded ides btw? cheers again

DarkBlade
January 27th, 2005, 07:40 PM
Yep, I live by cable ties. They are easy to use, strong, and get the job done quickly. I like to then wrap the wires in Velcro and put Velcro on the case somewhere, and stick them under rails and ot of site for the most part to get them out of the way. Cleanliness is next to Zenliness... LMAO!

I use sheething for power and I get glowing round IDE cables and then tuck it neetly with ties. he he.

my new systems gonna be blue and red I think. decided to not get a blue case sien my house is gonna mostly decked out in red and cherry wood! so im gonna get soemthing to match it. prolly red case and red mods.

The plastic ones are better for me, even though you have to cut them to make a modification. I have like 400 of them tho. Heh. Velcro has the risk of attracting static. I used it for wires outside of the computer (the back of the computer)

Clear acrylic cases are eye candy. But they are a poor conductor of heat.. therefore aren't practical.

trance565
January 27th, 2005, 09:13 PM
if they conduct heat poorly, wouldnt that actually be good, lol, i thot the idea was to keep things FROM getting hot, and keepin em COLD, not makin em HOT

Giancarlo
January 27th, 2005, 09:25 PM
I mean I messed up how I said that.. lol... I meant.. they do not transfer heat well. Aluminum is far better.. in fact the best out there.. unless you have a copper case (is there such a thing lol). Copper transfers the heat the best (hence why many HSF are copper based)... hey that's an idea.. a copper ATX case..

HELP!
I am looking a the Tsunami case and making a computer but I only have £300. I am buying the Athlon XP 3200+, 512MB 184Pin DIMM PC3200 DDR RAM Non-Parity CL3, Gigabyte SoA nForce 2 ATX A L R,and the Thermaltake Tsuanmi case. It all costs £277.61 inc VAT and delievry charges.
However I need to know more about the Thermaltake Tsunami case.
Questions
1) There is a front panel which swings open but I am worried that if I buy fan controllers the controls/knobs will not fit, because the front panel may hit the controls. Will this happen or not?
Please refer to http://www.techtastic.ca/reviews3/tsunami.html, however I would like to buy the black coloured version.

2)It says in the features that the mainboard/formfactor is Extended ATX. Will a normal ATX board such as the one I am going to buy, fit into the case?

3) Can any PSU fit into the case?

4)I cannot decide which one to get, the one with or without the side window?
I do like the idea of adding cold cathode tubes and LED's, but at it looks like it is missing a whole side panel! The one with the side panel looks complete however the modification aspect is not very broad.
Reply as soon as possible.

1) That's a very good question. That's why I suggest getting this:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-998-202&depa=0

That's a fan controller with buttons, not knobs. :)

2) It probably should fit, but you may want to check with other posters here. I'm not to sure. What are the dimensions of the motherboard and is there any specification on the dimensions of the space in the case?

3) Typically yes, any PSU should fit in the case.

4) For looks, I would get the one with the side window.

Gian........it called DIY... Some people have the urge to make THEIR OWN cases, instead of just buying them like so many of us do. I highly respect those kind of people.. and that half life case has ltos of flaws in it and first off u dotn want alot of holes in ur case like that... talk about dusty and icky. i use fan filters.

and second of all ... ewww what if u dotn like that game enymore. really not too many people are crazy bout a certian game for very long. so all that hard work into that case then just gets chucked in a couple months. yah. i wouldnt work on something like that for that long.

never put a brand or gam trademark that wont last long on it. its also kinda tacky and cheap.

like driving down a road and seeing lots of holiday inn, mcdonalds, arbys, texaco signs, etc.... and all those powerlines and everythings just an eyesore.

lots of brands allover the pc makes it look junky.

and that case took it way far. i wouldnt want anything rusty looking in my house. i think that case is trashy

it looks so dirty i wouldnt even want to touch it

and all teh paints gonna peel right off and you still have to do lots of mantinence to the case alot. thats what u get if you mod too much.

and how long did it take them... by the time they were done ddi they still liek that game? was it really worth it??

Oh don't tell me what I have or haven't done. I have worked on cars quite a bit and have done it enough to know some basic things. You have to know what you are doing when painting a car or you will end up with a disaster. You are the one who doesn't work with a car very often. So please spare me this, B.S. But there is no way in hell, a car is as easy as a computer.

trance565

mine idle is like 38-40 and load i think is around 52 is the highest ive seen it, i checked it while playing WOW, cpu was about 80% used, how could i get it to 100% load or almost 100% with out having to run games? so it's easier to see my temps?
EDIT: lol make that 33 idle, lol i fixed my back fans so they both exhaust, lol 5 degree dif, wow lol im amazed!

I don't think it will be too hard. I'm modding my case to death and with a dremel and a bit of patience you can get very nice results. Just take it esay and slow and plan ahead and it will end up looking great!

That's a very cool case, Computergen!!

I don't want a black case, I am so sick and tired of black it is making me ill! I wanted something bright and cool. BTW, this case is VERY GOOD LOOKING, I like it more then the Coolermaster Wave, it has more features and is higher quality.

AMD when do u expect your system to be fully assemebled?

DarkBlade
February 9th, 2005, 01:10 AM
Well, my parts are due in tomorrow and Thursday (except for Liquid cooling which should be here Friday or Saturday, so Sunday I should have it up and running at max with OCing and installations completed. Then I will post some AWESOME benchies from AquaMark3 and 3Dmark03/05 and PCMark04.

blah blah
February 9th, 2005, 01:25 AM
man i didnt noe u were getting water cooling, well thats amazing, cuz ur one of the only people that could handle the installation

DarkBlade
February 9th, 2005, 01:37 AM
it really isn't that hard to perform. You just insert the water cooling pump and controller, connect the tubes up, and then CAREFULLY fill the tank with 10% acetone, 40% antifreeze solution, and 50% water. WALLAH!! Liquid cooling at its finest!
