Can't ping from France

I dial up to the internet using freeserve. While in the UK I can ping. While in France dialed up using the same number I can not ping.

Any ideas?

You would proabaly have to dial up with a different number/area code. Contact freeserve about it.

Who/what are you trying to ping?

perhaps ICMP packets are filtered via a router from your connection at a place out of your control.

the dial up thing is the reason you cannot 'ping from france' .. though pinging is nothing more than basicly knocking on somebodies door..

ummm, obviously not, just being on a dialup connectin doesn't affect the use of networking tools, besides he's already said that he is on a dial up connection at home where he can ping the address.

.......if he's using a certain number for the UK and then using that same exact number in France then that number wouldn't reach too well and it would just be super slow.
